Amanda JP Brown

Hello Brave One,

It can be terrifying and messy to shine a light on your darkness as you journey towards healing from your past and begin to uncover the human you want to be. Life doesn’t always follow the plan we lay out and sometimes the things we experience create barriers and obstacles to living the life we desire.  I understand the challenges that come from the desire to change and how difficult it can be to try healing alone which is why I became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

As a practicing therapist, I not only believe in people’s capacity to change and grow regardless of the experiences and circumstances they face, I’ve witnessed it countless times and experienced it myself.  Having my own experiences with shame, trauma and transformation, I set out to help others do the same in their lives, which is why I do the work I do today.

I graduated from Arizona State University in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and subsequently pursued a Masters in Criminal Justice where my interest in the impact of early childhood trauma and parental abandonment grew.  Because of this interest, I pursued a Masters in Social Work and graduated with both Masters Degree in 2007. I additionally completed a two year Gestalt Psychology Training Program, and hold an Infant/Family Clinical Practice Certification and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.

My interdisciplinary education and training provided me an opportunity to develop a multidimensional perspective allowing me to see my clients through a holistic lens.  My therapeutic style is inclusive, person centered and trauma focused.  One of my biggest focuses is helping my clients deepen their level of self acceptance and to cultivate an understanding of the narratives they have about their experiences. And how by altering their narrative, they can gain a new perspective and find a deeper level of self compassion. I use the creative process in my therapeutic work with my clients as another healing modality.

I have experience working with individuals who’ve experienced early childhood trauma and understand how it impacts our development over the life course and the quality of our relationships. I’ve worked with adults who’ve experienced multiple types of trauma and abuse, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, shame, as well as self confidence and self-esteem issues.

You don’t have to go it alone. I would be honored to walk with you through your healing journey.  I am committed to providing my clients with a safe space where they feel valued and treated with dignity and respect as they explore the messy parts of their lives in order to heal. The therapeutic relationship is a sacred one, built on trust & collaboration. It's why I work to understand my client's life experiences & how those impact them now; because what's happened to you matters. I look forward to connecting with and discovering how I can support you.
